Sunnybrae Vineyard and Winery

A true family winery located at 849 Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Rd, Tappen just across the road from Shuswap Lake. Tappin is a few KM north of Salmon Arms.

Barry Turner spoke often of establishing a home based business that would provide employment for his family. His job had often taken him away from home. So in 2005 Barry and his wife Nancy their daughters, husbands and grandchildren began planting their seven and a half acre lakeside property in five varieties of cool climate grapes. Dreams can come true.

They gathered around them a great support team including  Lloyd Schmidt, an original partner at Sumac Ridge Winery in Summerland B.C. and local consultant, vintner Hans Nevrkla and his wife Hazel. Hans and Hazel founded Larch Hills Winery.

Their vineyard is nestled below Bastion Mountain at the back and the magnificent Shuswap lake shoreline. The south sloping volcanic ash land basks in sunshine during daylight hours and enjoys cooling breezes in the evenings. Kerner, Ortega, Siegerrebe, Schonburger and Marechal Foch grapes dominate the vineyard.

Their wines are highly respected and have gather a number of awards. The 2107 Ortega won gold at the all Canadian Championships. The Redneck Red was also a winner. Do not pass by their Marechal Foch.

Head Winemaker is Jesse Steinley from the Beamsville Bench, Niagara, Ontario

When visiting the winery drop by Recline Ridge they are also in Tappin
