Seaside Pearl
A shinning star (perhaps I should say pearl) in the Abbotsford Valley is Seaside Pearl Farm Gate Winery. The winery was founded by by Allison and David Zimmerman. The name comes from a pearl and gift shop Allison once owned on the White Rock beach.
They have a most beautiful located with views of the countryside and Mount Baker. If you take the back roads it becomes a most enjoyable drive through horse country. There are also two other wineries nearby Singletree and Mt Lehman.
At Seaside the beautiful designed chapel tasting room welcomes you in style featuring two patio with amazing views. You drive down the lane through the vineyard. The owners decided if they were to open a winery it would be done right and they did exactly that from educating themselves and the staff to perfecting the architecture and of course really good wines.
Today I arrived ten minutes before opening and found the gates open. I stepped out of my car walked to towards the door and was greeted immediately with a cheerful hello and a smile.
Thank you amazing hospitalityI was seated in a very comfortable chair at a table provided with water, Olives ad almonds as the tasting began Josie took me through eight quality wines before Allison arrived. It was good to see her. She is a most delightful Lady.Soon after I was joined by David. We talked about the harvest and grape availability along withe the seasonal climate conditions.
If you notice in the picture above on display are cans of Daffodils Sparkling Wine, produced and grown at Seaside Pearl’s estate vineyards. A very popular product. I myself enjoyed the Petite Milo The winery also featured some outstanding red. The Connaught Syrah 2018, is a deep red luscious, full bodied Syrah sourced from the Okanagan.
Their Love Lane series, Cab Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are all impressive wines.
Barbara was not with me on this visit as she was a representative at the Soroptimist Convention in Abbotsford. Allison made me promise to return with Barbara. It was a easy promise to make.
