The French Door philosophy is to make high quality wines right here in our own backyard, to celebrate our remarkable climate and terroir, and to provide a unique experience to French Door visitors by allowing them travel to France through our wines. As a result, we have adopted low-intervention winemaking practices in order to grow a fully sustainable vineyard, and to serve the most honest wines.”– Pascal Madevon, Director of Winemaking, French Door Estate Winery Ltd.

Jason Shull
French Door Estate Winery is a family owned ( Jason Shull) and operated winery and vineyard. Founded in 2019, located on the beautiful Black Sage Bench, South of the town of Oliver. Audra and Jason Shull acquired the vineyard and the buildings of Montakarn Estate Winery on Black Sage Road. They renovated the former winery, adding superb winemaking equipment that is needed to make both big red wines and whites packed with flavour.
Jason Shull had a career in healthcare—specifically as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. He earned his Master's in Pediatric Certification from the Catholic University of America and practiced in pediatric emergency rooms, bringing strong clinical acumen and a commitment to comprehensive care.
He joined Pediatric Partners in 2021, where he was known for his experience in both primary and acute care pediatrics. His background in high-pressure medical environments likely shaped his attention to detail and dedication—qualities that now shine through in the winery’s operations and ethos.
The name “French Door” was inspired by their travels through Provence, France, which reminded them of their hometown of Osoyoos—a place filled with lakes, vineyards, orchards, and lavender. They envisioned their winery as a portal to the elegance and simplicity of French wine country.

Pascal Madevon -Director of Winemaking
Pascal Madevon is considered one of the Okanagans greatest winemaker.
It all started in Paris, France: growing up, I was raised with the notion that wine is an important part of education and culture. During my childhood, I would live for the weekends in Burgundy where I spent my days playing with the soil of my grandfather’s vineyard and studying the different hues and bouquets that came from different varietals. It sparked in me a profound appetite for agriculture, and inspired me to move to the wine capital of the world: Bordeaux.
There, I was classically trained as an expert viticulturist and oenologist, and it has always been important for me to be involved in the entire story of a wine. To this day, my mission is to unleash, from the terroir, the true signature of each and every wine. And I have done so, as Head Winemaker of several prestigious estates. From Winemaker at St-Estephe’s Château Laffitte Carcasset and Technical Director of Château la Tour Blanche, a cru bourgeois domain, to General Manager of Château la Tour Carnet, a classified growth in Médoc, these experiences speak to the measure of my 15+ years of background in French winemaking.
He first arrived in Canada in 2001 to take on a role with Osoyoos Larose in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley under consultant Alain Sutre. He was so impressed by the interesting and devine terrior the colourful soil he left the old world wine regions for the NEW!
He joined the ( renowned Triggs Family) at Culmina Family Estate Winery in 2013. From their to French Door.
"If I am not in a vineyard, in a cellar, or at a wine festival, you will find me in my garden, in my wood workshop, traveling with my wife, or surfing with my three daughters."

Petar Djuric
French doors assistant winemaker arrived in the Okanagan in 2021 obtaining a Certificate in Viticulture from Okanagan College and certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Petar combines technical knowledge with an intuitive understanding of wine. Originally rooted in hospitality, Petar developed an extensive knowledge of wines and impeccable customer service through an extensive career working in restaurant management and wine program development. These origins naturally evolved into a hands-on journey into winemaking.
His experience spans multiple vintages in the Okanagan Valley, as well as international harvest work in Chile’s Maule Valley. Petar’s approach is centered on creating a seamless dialogue between the glass and consumer, crafting wines that authentically reflect their origins.
