Ripples Estate Winery

Barbara and I along with our good friends Ken and Jane visited the newly designed Ripples Estate winery in the Abbotsford Valley. On Friday November 19th 2021, a flooding occurred in Abbotsford due to the spillover from the Nooksack river. Though there was heavy rain before the flooding in Abbotsford, the result of the Abbotsford flooding was the Nooksack river overflowing and thus end up in the Sumas River which then crosses into Abbotsford. The crops on the farmland of many farms in the agricultural areas in the city of Abbotsford has been destroyed, and many the livestock living in farms were also killed by the flood. This affects the lives of many, including the farmers in the agricultural area have been affected by the flood.  Ripples was a victim of the flooding.

Thanks to the passion and hard work of owners Paul and Caroline Mostertman, family, friends and volunteers the winery has been reestablished better than ever. Today the winery is known for its design, gardens, wedding venue, hospitality, numerous events, its wines and so much more.

Along with their wines they established New Wave Distilling. Combining their wines and distilled produces has resulted in the owners developing some very flavourable Cocktails. Ripples host numerous events in the evening that features their creative cocktails.

The Secret Garden is tucked in the beautiful gardens of Ripples Winery and New Wave Distilling. The ambiance is tropical garden party meets elegance. The beautiful clear roof reception space is filled with tropical trees and plants and draped with elegant chiffon with massive, dilemma crystal chandeliers that twinkle all night. Water features add soft sounds so you can focus on the scent of jasmine and ginger lilies, as they fill the night air.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted. We had lunch reservations and we were shown where our table was on the outdoor covered patio. We were early so we strolled the ground before doing a tasting! Caroline,co-owner was near by photographing new menu items. A fish taco was under her camera lens.

We enjoyed our tasting. Some really good wines! The Knight a Gewürztraminer had those wonderful floral flavours. The Foley showed mango and honeysuckle combining to create a soft sweetens. The Baby Muddy Pinot Gris displayed flavours of apple and melon excellent.

Ken and Jane enjoyed the Intemperance -Blueberry. Perhaps the favourite was the Welch a Cabernet Franc sourced from the Okanagan featuring dark fruit and a touch of smokiness.

We all enjoyed the Cupere - Blueberry Dessert a perfect sweetness.

Now it was time for lunch.

We had a most enjoyable lunch on the patio. The staff extremely friendly and strived to please us. Three of us ordered the Turkey Brie Panini, delicious. Jane had the Butter Board

Ripples Estate Winery is truly a destination.
