Happiness is walking into a winery and being greeted like old friends; that happened to Barbara and I when we dropped by Backyard Vineyards on July 18, 2023. We were warmly greeted by the tasting room manager Norma Walters then joined by winemaker Liam Berti.
Norma made sure we were seated comfortably with a glass of Sparkling wine in front of us before hustling away to take care of the numerous winery guests seated outside on the patio, Norma was kept busy delivering Cheese and Charcuterie platters to their beautiful outdoor facilities.
The sparkling wine was most enjoyable, full of flavour; definitely one of the better sparkling wines we have experienced. Barbara was quite impressed; maybe I will convert her to a white wine drinker yet! Liam took time from his busy schedule to bring us up-to-date on the wines with tastings, while we enjoyed a charcuterie platter prepared by Norma.

Now, you'd expect the conversation to be all about wines; however, Liam and his wife are adding to the family with their second child in January. The conversation turned to the joy of being a parent, and the antics of their two year old son.
As this was not a formal wine research visit, (my goal was to relax and enjoy a glass of wine) there are no wine reviews this time around. When the winery welcomes you as friends, and makes you feel at home, life does not get much better!
