Along the back roads of Oliver through the vineyards we traveled to Burrowing Owl for dinner.
According to proprietor Jim Wyse, the winery at Burrowing Owl Vineyards is among the world's most modern. The winery was designed to use gravity flow
and
cool, temperature-controlled cave/cellar for fermentation and barrel aging.

Dining in the wineries Sonora Room, was a culinary delight from superior service to magnificent cuisine. A truly memorable experience. Paired with their fine quality wines and scrumptious desserts the winery exceeded expectations
The following morning we began our journey to Domaine Combret. Located south of Oliver on the west side of the valley.
This location has the desirable combination of a southeastern exposure, very gravelly soil, a long frost free period and a slope leading to a high accumulation of heat units and solar radiation during the growing season. Winemaker Olivier Combret uses Gravity Flow to move his wines. The wines are very dry in nature.

In 1995, Domaine Combret 1993 Chardonnay became the first and only Canadian Chardonnay to be awarded a medal at Chardonnay of the World in Burgundy, France - regarded as the World Cup of international Chardonnays. Barbara thought
the Magali was very good wine. Proving that some world class reds are better produced in the Oliver area.
You have to be impressed with this winery, just look at its design. Golden Mile Cellars is owned and operated by
Mike and Pam Luckhurst.
Just look at the view from the patio at Golden Mile
The interior is just as impressive. With the very warm welcome provided by Pam Luckhurst. And even more important the wines are exquisite. Full of refreshing crisp flavours. Additional images can been seen in our Gallery 5
Inniskillin established an estate winery in the Okanagan in 1994 which commemorated 20 years of Inniskillin's first crush in Ontario. The Okanagan Valley climatic region is much dryer than Niagara and unique as a grape growing region in western Canada

Audrey provided a delightful sparkling with her charming personality along with her knowledge of Inniskillin's' history and wines.
We tasted wines, chatted and bought some wine stoppers. Audrey also provided some Olympic labels. Inniskillian is an

A beautiful day and another winery to enjoy Hester Creek.
located just south of
Oliver, in the scenic Golden Mile. A sun shower welcomed us as we turned into the parking lot.
Providing a nice picture of the Vineyard ( see top of previous page). Hester Creek has a strong tradition of producing Fine wines.
The wine shop was busy, but the hospitality was excellent. The staff even found time to model behind the tasting bar for us.
The wine shop decor is "old world" with a nice patio. We were eager to begin a wine tasting. As we stepped up to the bar we realized the people standing next to us were neighbours from home.
As mentioned Hester Creek makes some outstanding wines. French and American oak barrels are used
in the fermenting and aging process of their wines. Their Pinot Gris is excellent. My personal favourite is their
Late Harvest Trebbianco.
