The Trip 2015

Spierhead Winery

The country roads of east Kelowna led us to this very popular winery with a growing reputation. It was a busy day for the winery.

The husband and wife team of Paul ( pictured below) and Meena Cleland ( left above) were our tasting hosts. What a delightful couple. Owner Marina Knutson was hustling around the tasting room making sure all was well. She managed to find time to chat telling us about the new planting and new outdoor facilities now under construction.

Veterans of the early Okanagan wine industry, Paul and Meena were also partners in First Estate Cellars winery in Peachland for two years in the mid-1990s,

In 2010: they were named ‘Best New Winery’ at the 2012 BC Wine Awards. The new vines reflect the growth and popularity of the winery. Recently, SpierHead’s first Rosé was awarded Double Gold as
the top Rosé in the competition at the 2013 All-Canadian Wine Championships. We certainly enjoyed their hospitality and their wines
