Domaine des Salamandres winery

196, Ch Covey Hill
Hemmingford, QC
J0L 1H0

The Estate is located on Covey Hill Road, the backdrop for the Adirondacks, home to the world's last dark mountain salamander.

The soil l is mostly sandy and rests on a rocky bed. Our vines are oriented on a southern hillside full of sunshine and maximum brightness. The vineyard and orchard of Domaine des Salamandres have been certified organic from 2004 to 2010. Since 2011, Domaine has continued to cultivate vineyards with respect for a reasoned culture.

Denise Lavoie and his wife decided to settle in the countryside in 2001 with our two daughters, Karelle and Camylle.

Three years later, for our own pleasure and love of good wines, we decided to plant a few vines of different grape varieties: Vidal, Geisenheim, Seyval blanc, Frontenac red and gray. In the spring of 2005, a spring frost destroyed half of the vines we planted and forced us to question ourselves. In 2006, without asking too many questions, we decide to replant vines and launch two feet in the adventure by creating the Domaine des Salamandres. At the 8,000 ceps, we quickly add 300 pear trees Beauté Flamande, Bosc and Bartlett.

Thierry Kobloth, the owner of the Kobloth Vineyard, was born in Alsace in 1970. For four generations his family has been passionately involved in winemaking. Thierry, having obtained his certificate as chef in the eighties, initially worked as a chef in several large hotels in Switzerland and southern France, where tourism and gastronomy are renowned. In 1994, always wanting to go further, he decided to leave France to explore other avenues and give free rein to his entrepreneurial flair. Seduced by Quebec, Thierry decides to found a popular restaurant in Old Montreal that he will run for 10 years. The success of the chef allows him to go even further, because in 2004, he sells his restaurant in order to realize his great dream of dedicating himself to the passion of his ancestors, namely viticulture.

Thierry bought a small corner of paradise in Saint-Bruno de Montarville, a compromise between the city and the countryside: a magnificent land of 100 acres.
Aided by his father, Thierry plants with his hands about 10,000 vine plants, 6,000 white grapes (Vidal, Seyval and Muscat of NY) and 4,000 red grapes (Lucie Kollman, Maréchal Foch, Baco Noir, De Chenacet Frontenac). The first harvest took place in 2007.

Martin Lavertu and Françoise Goudreau bought the land in the fall of 1999, the idea was a simple one: to establish a family vineyard in one of Quebec's most beautiful regions. On September 1, 2007, eight years and four children later, they finally opened the doors, offering six different wines.

The name means Little Pebble. There are no pebbles here–just massive boulders. The vines grow on sloping, rocky terrain – offering perfect drainage and wonderful growing conditions for the grapes use to produce our wines.

They produce six unique wines, including two whites, two reds, a rosé and a fortified red wine flavoured with maple syrup. All of our wines are made from their own grapes. They cultivate the rustic and semi-rustic varietals Maréchal Foch, Ste-Croix, Frontenac, St-Pépin, and Prairie Star

Miltonia winery

812 route 203
Howick, Quebec
J0S 1G0

Vignoble Miltonia was founded in 2008 by two passionate winemakers, Yves Beaudin and Isabelle Degongre. With a prime geological location and soil particularly well suited for vine growth, fallow agricultural land was purchased in 2007. Located on a slight slope, on the western side of a hill, the sun’s rays shine on the vine rows (oriented north-south) throughout the day. The land’s sandy loam soil is very rocky, hereby allowing the red shale rocks to absorb heat and transfer it to the vine crops at the end of the day. Following the preparation of the soil for planting, the first Vidal and Seyval grapevines were planted in spring 2008.

Today, the vineyard counts a total of 5000 crops. White grape varieties such as Vidal, Seyval and Frontenac (grey), as well as red varieties such as Frontenac, Marquette and St-Croix are grown. All operations are conducted by the owners, as well as their family and friends who have lent their strong hands in the establishment of the vineyard and winery

The name of Miltonia Vineyard was selected based on the town of Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton. Milton is the word changed to Miltonia. The Miltonia is an orchid.
