Hainle Vineyards

5355 Trepanier Bench Road
Peachland, BC V0H 1X2

Nestled in the very heart of wine country in the Okanagan valley, Hainle Winery is located moments
South of Mission Hills and Quails Gate; and 5 minutes North of Greata Ranch. Only 355 km (220 miles) from Vancouver, Hainle is one of Canada's founding wineries, and boasts a wide variety of award-winning organic wines.

The winery dates back to 1988 with the real story beginning in 1972, when the winery's original founder, Walter Hainle, produced North America's first icewine.

This historic property was acquired in 2017 by Bella Huang, a Chinese-born entrepreneur who is a hands-on winery operator. Since then, the Peachland winery has replanted its vineyard and fully renovated the winery, installing new tanks, barrels and winemaking technology. Consulting winemaker Anthony Buchanan was engaged to make the vintages relaunching the brand. Subsequently, he hired Scott Ingram as Hainle’s resident winemaker.

The winery has continued to make organic wines, and production is soaring thanks to 47 hectares (115 acres) of vineyard planted in the south Okanagan region. Signature wines include Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, and the popular Zweigelt. Deep Creek has a number of Wines under the Z label using Zweigelt

The winery boasts several other attractions to visitors, including The Vineyard Restaurant and The Producer's Cookery School

On April 30th 2022, Hainle Winery was awarded Business Of The Year at the Peachland Business Excellence Awards Night! In addition to the award, Hainle owner Bella Huang was nominated for “Enterpreneur Of The Year” as well. Our sincere thanks to the Peachland Chamber of Commerce and the jury who voted for Hainle Winery. Hainle team will continue working together as one for many wonderful years to come!

The winery was originally launched in 1972 as Chateau de Treanier by Marion John. After establishing the winery, Marion sold it in 1979 to Bob Claremont who renamed it Claremont estates. The winery ran into problems and was once again sold to Goldie Smithener who renamed the winery Cheateau Ste Claire.

The Okanagan’s original estate winery, First Estate has been through several changes of name and receiverships. It was revived in 2004 by Calgary trucking executive Frank Silvestri, in a nod to his Italian heritage. Throughout 2009, the winery posted a “temporarily closed” sign on its gate.

The history of First Estates has been one of buy and sell. The winery was sold to the Sivertsti family in 2004 The winery will produce wines in what they call the "Back to Italy" style. The primary varieties in the seven-hectare (17-acre) vineyard are Maréchal Foch, Gewürztraminer and Gamay. Some of the vines are survivors of those that the original owner, Marion Jonn, began planting in 1973. Silvestri recognizes the virtue of mature vines by making an Old Vines Foch.

The winery was leased in 2013 by winemaker Jason Parkes who proposes
to make it an incubator for emerging wineries. He started with a a vineyard job at Hainle Vineyards led to a flourishing winemaking career at Aces Wine, Serendipity Vineyards and Bounty Cellars. He makes wine at First Estate for several clients planning small premium (1)
wineries of their own.
