The island is 27.5 kilometers lomg and less than 6 kilometeres at its wides point. Galiano is know as the Gem of the Gulf Islands. Galiano Island is the second largest of the Gulf Islands, after Saltspring Island. The population is just over 1100 but has a number of summer homes. Galiano has a variety of accommodations, including resorts, inn, cottages, bed & breakfasts, and a Provincial Park campsite. There are places to eat, grocery stores, a pub, and a gas station. Many artists live on the island and their works can be bought in island galleries and craft shops. There are no wineries on the Island |
