Serendipity Winery

990 Debeck Road, Naramata, British Columbia

Hard work equals success !

Judy Kingston, formerly had a successful law practice in Toronto until opting for the wine grower’s life style in British Columbia's Naramata Bench.

When she first saw the rolling Naramata Bench she knew it was home. The property was bought in a day – it was all very serendipitous.

I was among the first to discouver this winery if not the first.

My wife and I were visiting the Naramata Bench back in 2011 staying at D'Angelo Estate Winery. I was visiting some more established wineries when by chance I turned down an unfamiliar road and unexpectedly came across a winery open sign. With caution I hit the brakes backed up the car and turned into a dirt lane. As I rounded the bend I saw this magnificent building before me and realized I was at Serendipity Winery. At that moment a cart carrying two people came out of the vineyard on to the dirt lane. Once again luck was on my side as I almost liberally bumped into Judy Kingston. Since 2006, Judy has devoted her full time efforts to the Serendipity vineyard and winery. Her two children have each put in summers working in the vineyard. It is a family commitment, led by Judy as point person.

Today the winery is considered one of the best on the bench. Respect and talent winemaker Bradley Cooper joined the winery in 2015.  He created his own Black Cloud brand six years ago. Black Cloud is produce at Serendipity.

The winery has gather its fair share of awards over the years. The 2012 Pinot Noir won a 2015 Lieutenant Governor Award. Winesofcanada.com gave their Pinot Grigio 2013 a 94. In 2013 Naramata’s Serendipity Winery was named ‘British Columbia Winery of the Year’ at the prestigious 3rd Annual New York International Wine Competition.

Katie O'Kell is Judy's daughter. She is second in Command at the winery. She received her BSc in Biology at Hamilton’s McMaster University. When you visit the tasting room chances are you will be greeted either by Katie or Judy.

Nestled among the rolling hills of the picturesque Naramata Bench, a visit to Serendipity is all about discovery, surprise and warmth. Each guest of the winery becomes a member of the extended Serendipity family. Visitors enter the estate through a simple farm gate entrance but after rounding a short dusty bend between rows of vinifera, they come face to face with the winery’s gorgeous 25-foot double doors, which feature Serendipity’s logo cast in stunning wrought iron.

Visitors to the estate enjoy taking in the stunning views of Okanagan Provincial Park, Okanagan Lake, and Giant’s Head Mountain. Children are welcome.
