Winemaker's Cut Collection from winemaker Michal Mosny brings us two outstanding wines. The 2016 Winemakers Cut Syrah and the 2017 Winemaker's Cut Sauvignon Blanc

Michal Mosny and his wife Martina came from Slovakia. One day they decided to "do something craze" and moved to Canada. As Martina says “We had no idea Canada had both wineries and polar bears. However, we were intrigued and started investigating,”

Michal was working for a winery at the time but they applied and once approved they came directly to the Okanagan. Michal started a wine consulting business and soon found himself manager and winemaker Lunessence State Winery.

The couple decide to produce wine under their own label in 2015 under the name Winemaker's Cut. All wines are made and blended using various types of oak and fermentation lots, using wild yeast or special selected bio yeast. The grapes from from the Deadman lake vineyards just south of Oliver. The wines reflect the rich mineral of the soil.

2016 Winemakers Cut Syrah has a nice garnet colour. It begins with Aromas of black fruit, liquorice, vanilla, sweet spice and white pepper. On the palate, a dry, medium bodied wine. A fruit forward wine with silky tannins and a good lasting finish.

2017 Winemaker Cut Sauvignon Blanc, perhaps the best Sauvignon Blanc I have tasted in some time even my wife ( a believer in red wines) was quite impressed. Sadly the bottle was empty far too soon. I begins with wonderful fruit aromas. Followed by a nice smooth taste featuring pineapple and Kiwi . The wine reflects the rich minerality of the Deadman Lake vineyard leading to a perfect finish.
