Hillside Winery BC

This time we are featuring two wines from Hillside winery in British Columbia's Naramata Bench. The Naramata Bench runs along the east side of Lake Okanagan.

Hillside vineyards are situated on southwest facing slopes above Lake Okanagan. Planted in gravelly soil. This unique setting combined with long hot summer days and cool evenings contributes to our award winning wines.

Highlights: Hillside controls over 40 acres of vineyards on the Naramata Bench. Some of the oldest vines are planted here. Our Gamay Noir was planted over 25 years ago. Other varietals planted are Muscat Ottonel, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Kerner, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.

2010 Muscat Ottonel is the wineries Signature wine. Made from 100% Muscat Ottonel grown on our estate, this is the only wine of its kind produced in the Okanagan Valley. The warm 2009 summer sun ripened these grapes to golden perfection producing a wine of memorable vintage. 14 months in the barrel.

The wine has lovely floral Aromas and hints of exotic spice. Add a small hint of honey Score of 88

Hillside 2009 Malbec-Merlot This was a barrel sample of a very promising red, with blueberry aromas, with cherry and plum flavours and with a chewy ripe texture. 92.
The potential is there for a truly great wine One has to wait for its release.
